Setting Up Library for Schools in Remote Areas.
In Nepal up in the mountain villages some teachers and their pupils walk over an hour to school along dangerous narrow tracks, swinging bridges and difficult terrain. This does not stop them or hold back their enthusiasm to reach their destination to teach and learn. Nepal has suffered in the past from a long civil war and not so long ago a huge earthquake that devastated the land and the population. Those left have had many hardships to deal with, but they are a proud happy to get to school and we have our total admiration for the daily struggles they face in order to learn. CHALLENGESDue to the Poor education quality, the students can’t acknowledge the power of good book and its influence in life. Setting up libraries in remote areas is for helping them excel in their education but what we have in our country is, we aren’t supposed to spend more time reading except at school. The stereotype community still doesn’t agree going to the library and reading while spare time instead they are expected for household works which is a challenge in this project. The agony of S.E.E (secondary education examination) is deeply rooted in our community that, the secondary level is more than enough education for their children. SOLUTION The project shares the idea of establishing the libraries in schools located in remote areas with educational assistance which might be very cooperative for the studies and make them enthusiastic in education. Despite the free education, we can be of some help by adding some text books and some inspirational items in their learning. LONG-TERM IMPACT Libraries play a key role in creating literate environments and promoting literacy by offering relevant and attractive reading material for all ages and all literacy levels and by offering adult and family literacy classes. They embrace the social responsibility to offer services that bridge social, political and economic barriers, and traditionally make a special effort to extend their services to marginalized people. Libraries assist in finding, using and interpreting appropriate information that opens opportunities for lifelong learning, literacy enhancement, informed citizenship, recreation, creative imagination, individual research, critical thinking, and ultimately, empowerment in an increasingly complex world.
